This annual themed auction is scheduled around the Grass Valley Old West Show, May 9-11, 2024, where we will be exhibiting highlights from this auction and its companion auction at www.annexauctions.com. Both will feature property from prominent estates and collections throughout the country including a fine collection of coin-op and firearms from the estate of Dick Gibson Aptos, CA. Mr. Gibson was a prominent customer of Witherell’s in addition to respected dealers such as Norm Flayderman, Chris Anderson and Bud Meyer.
Our niche for discovering important items in the brush is well represented in this auction. Among the highlights are two important Winchester rifles (lots 57 and 58) that descended in a Yolo Counting ranching family, a previously unknown Grace Hudson painting (lot 26) and A. D. M. Cooper Painting with an original 1906 bill of sale for a staggering $10,000. Additional discoveries include estate and collector property from Redding, Reno, Pleasanton, Vacaville, Santa Rosa, Sausalito, Grass Valley, Antioch, Valley Springs, Valley Springs, Southern California and Idaho.
